In the poem, Success is Counted Sweetest, Emily Dickenson was trying to get the point across that those who succeed most in life dont appreciate it as much as those who dont. The winners take it for granted because they didnt suffer the emotions that come with a loss. This also applies to those who lack some luxuries of life. It is only those who lack something that can truely appreciate its worth because they know how it feels to live without it.
I really liked this poem. I could definitely relate to it because I know how it feels to suffer losing. Whether that be a family member, or even something as simple as a sporting event. I'm sure those starving kids in Africa experience this on a daily basis. We take for granted on a daily basis the abundance of food that we have. Those children on the other hand, would not cherish it like it's their last meal. I think we all need to take a step back and be thankful for all the things that we have been blessed with. Not very many people have it as good as we do.
