Emily Dickenson believes that death isn’t too scary because it happens to everyone and people shouldn’t be afraid of it. In her poem Because I could not stop for Death, Emily compares death to a first date. She puts the image of a nice young man stopping at the house, knocking on the door, and picking her up to go out on a nice date in your head. In the poem they go on a joyful ride passed beautiful things like a school with children playing, fields of grazing grain, and they also see the setting sun which is peaceful. She also describes her grave as a beautiful house where the roof was scarcely visible, when she describes the roof of the house she is talking about her tombstone. In the end of her poem she never came back home, but she described her death as a date and she wasn’t afraid of it and actually enjoyed it.

Even though I’m not ready to die and don’t want anyone else to die I could agree with Emily Dickenson that we shouldn’t be afraid of death because everyone has to die. Some people might dislike death more than others and some could be more ready for it but they shouldn’t be afraid because everyone has to die. I don’t want to die but I don’t want to be afraid of death either because then I might be afraid to do daring things.
