HIs opinion in writing about Mohummad Ali is that Ali really was a good guy but he turned into a bad guy because people were racist in his time. They were rude to him and his people and therefore he reacted by becoming the Ali we know now. He was innocent but he hated racism. So Dick pointed out. that because the white people were racist he had to be someone else in order to not be hurt by that. His view was important because it shows us how it was back then and how hard it was to be an innocent person like how Mohummad was back then, how he needed to change.

  1. Dick Schaap didn't necessarily say that Ali turned into a bad guy. He just said that he turned into a different person and not a bad person. Like most of us he was influenced by his religion. During the peak of his career he became a member of the nation of Island and by doing that he became a different person because he had to follow different ideas.

  2. In this explanation there are a few thing which a disagree with. Dick Schaap never said that Muhammad Ali was a bad guy and that he changed because of the white influence. More detail into his reasons for changing might help the paragraph persuade readers.

  3. i disagree with this. Dick Schaap really talks about how people changing. Ali did deal with racism but thats not what changed him. He changed because of how he grew in his fighting stature.

  4. In general, I would have to say that this is the outline for which Schaap wrote about Ali. He basically started out as a good guy, but he was wrongfully influenced by society.

  5. I disagree. Dick Schaap did not say whether Muhammad Ali changed for the better or for the worse, he just said that he changed. Also, racism isn't what changed him, it was his exposure to Middle-Eastern religion.

  6. 1621 I disagree with this statement, because Muhammad Ali did not turn into a "bad" guy. He only had gotten his reputation get the best of him. He was living the life, he had money, he had girls clinging onto him, he had everything he had possibly ever wanted. Yeah, it was hard with people being racist all around. But Ali could care less about what they thought, all he knew was that him getting into the ring with a white person he took that, as a black power movement. He knew that people all around the world were watching. He wanted segregation to end. Im pretty sure he had white friends out there. Like how he took, the news reporter, i believe. He basically dragged him along while he was out wandering around.

  7. I would say that I disagree with this response because for one, Dick Schaap never said that Ali was a bad guy. All Schaap talked about in his essay was how Ali was growing up and changing his life by the the decisions he was making.

  9. I disagree with this because Dick Schaap never said Muhammad Ali was a bad guy. I believe Schaap concluded that Muhammad never changed and was still the same guy even after he accomplished so much. I think that even though there was rasism during this time, Ali had to mature as a person no matter the circumstances or events surrounding him. Under it all, Muhammad Ali was still always the same guy.

  10. I disagree with this responce. Even though Ali faced racism, i do not think that changed him in a bad way. The author never mentioned Ali as a bad person. He had a frustrating and hard time trying to not let raceism keep him from doing what he liked. In fact i think racism made him work hard so he can achieve the awesomeness he has in Boxing!
