“Muhammad Ali then and now” By Dick Schaap is a written account of the boxing legend from the author’s view. E.B.White says that it is the writers duty to put in their opinion in to their writing. Schaap applies this idea by putting in his opinion multiple times to Ali’s choices that he makes in the time that he was the champion. In parts of the essay schaap states his opinion like when Ali desides to befriend Malcolm X due to his radical views on using violence to achieve there freedom And the times Ali made his innocence known through his actions. Through the entire essay when Schaap brings up the champ he puts in his opinion about how he is doing and his choices that he makes. He makes it his job to state what he believes and he thinks about Ali.
