In Dick Schaap’s essay, “Muhammad Ali Then and Now,” Schaap writes about his experience and thoughts of Muhammad Ali. At the end of Schaap’s essay, he says that Ali has changed yet he’s still the same person. Schappy believes Muhammad has become famous and well known, yet he’s still the same morally good person he’s always been. Muhammad may have changed his name, become a tremendous athlete and become one of the world’s best boxers, but he’s still the fun, hard working, well mannered man he’s always been. Schaap knew Muhammad Ali since the beginning and knows how he’s changed and how he’s still the same. Schaap still believes Muhammad Ali is still a good man.

Schaap’s opinion on Muhammad Ali is important because Schaap has known Ali since the beginning of his professional career and knows how Ali has changed and how he’s still the same. Many people may believe that Ali is just another cocky boxer that beats up people for a living, while others may believe he’s a role model and someone they may look up to. Schaap’s opinion and essay may change the way many people think of Ali. Ali may have changed a lot of things in his life, but Schaap talks about and expresses his opinion that Ali is still the same guy he was before all the fame and fortune came his way. Schaap’s essay and opinion is very important because they can change the way other people view Muhammad Ali.

I disagree with this because Ali changed with time but he was still the same cocky kid he was inside still the same. He changed with America and the times but deep down inside they both where the same old person that started out to be.
