I think the main point of Dick Schaap's article about Muhammad Ali was to show that he was a morally right person. Schaap may have not agreed with the choice Ali made to turn his back on Malcom X, but for the most part Shaap felt that Ali was someone people could look up to. That is not the only time that Shaap makes clear his opinion on Ali. The article may not have clearly stated what Shaap thought, but his thoughts and opinions were implied all throughout.
Just the fact that Ali was an aspiring boxer gave the impression that he was pro violence. I wouldnt expect a professional boxer to be as comical and sincere as Ali was. Which I think was Shaap's main reason behind writing the article-to show people the other side of Ali. He was a figure that their kids could look up to.
