The people of Flint are kept from their best, richest, and most fulfilled life because they didn’t have a way to expand. These people wanted the American dream but didn’t have a way to reach it. After the General Motor factory closed down people could have gone straight back into school instead of laying around feeling bad for themselves. I don’t want to say it was their entire fault for being so poor but I bet most of those people could have gone back to school or find a different alternative of work.

The movie Roger and Me portrays a good view on how the human mind works and how fast society can spread a simply Idea or thought into reality. The idea that the American dream is so unachievable has become a reality for the people in Flint. The people have tweaked and altered the very nature of what the American dream actually is so much that it has become nothing more then a pot of gold that resides at the end of a rainbow. The people of Flint Michigan have locked the American dream up and lost the key. The thing that in cages their dreams is their very own mind and nothing more.
Roger Ebert’s response to the film would be anything but unoriginal. Most people in watching the film would say its more sad and depressing, the settings and events that take place make it relavent and true that this film is depressing but Roger thinks its more hilarious and more of a game in which one side looses but rises from their own ashes. He finds it ironic in a sense.

In this film the people were struggling to live the American dream. According to this film
it was because GM shut down and many people lost their jobs. There were two kinds of people in the film.
both were not living the American dream, but there were those who were working as hard as they could,
and there were those who sat back doing nothing wallowing in self pity and anger. For example, the lady
who took up killing rabbits for a living was at least trying to earn a living. Although was it the best job
she could have found? I think many of the people there were struggling because they wouldn’t move on
somewhere else. It’s understandable for someone to not want to leave their home, but when it comes to
living the “fullest life” sometimes you just have to move on. So to wrap up my thoughts; those who work
for the fullest life and still aren’t living it have an excuse, but those who aren’t trying their hardest have
no excuse.

In the movie, The people that live in Flint, Michigan have their dreams crushed when the automotive factory shutdown leaving thousands of people jobless. The effect of this event really brought down people’s moral to where they just completely gave up. A lot of people lost their homes and a lot of businesses went out of business due to nobody having money. Some people tried to pick themselves back up by adapting to their situation like the lady that bludgeons bunnies to death just to sell meat to make some money. The city tried to encourage their citizens to pick themselves up by adding attractions and boosting their tourism which in the end failed miserably. I really think the city could’ve recovered, Jobs elsewhere and more opportunities at different companies and factories. Nobody can take away the American dream from anyone because you really make your life what it is.

The people in the movie were not living to the fullest of the American dream. The American dream is to be able to have a good life with a good job and having the right to be free. In this movie the people were not always free, many people had good jobs until GM closed several of the plants. Many people had to get jobs somewhere else that did not pay as well as GM.
I think it was a bad idea that GM closed several plants so people lost their jobs. This movie was interesting but wasn’t funny, you shouldn’t laugh cause you wouldn’t laugh if you were to lose your job.
David Bensman did not like this movie. Because this movie he said mocks American culture.
